SuperSperm . . .

Are you looking for information following a sperm test result or are you worried about a pending sperm test or are you simply looking for natural ways to improve your fertility? While some men do have a long-term issue with sperm quality, many find that they can make a significant improvement to their results by putting in a bit of effort.

A few changes to diet and lifestyle and a bit of acupuncture it is often all you need to improve sperm motility and morphology.

  • Vitamin C: citrus fruits, kiwi, mango, kale, broccoli, brussels

  • Vitamin E: spinach, sweet potato, avocado, almonds

  • Selenium: Brazil nuts, yellowfin tuna, halibut

  • Beta-Carotene: carrots, sweet potato, squash, spinach

  • Stop drinking out of plastic bottles, stop storing food in Tupperware containers - these can leech out chemicals that harm sperm development.

In the section below are a series of tips which will be useful for any man looking to improve sperm quality.

If you would like to contact me to book a course of acupuncture to support sperm health, please click here to get in touch. And just in case you are worried, I would like to reassure you that the needles will only go into wrists, ankles and lower legs!!

Tips and Suggestions to support sperm health . . .

Dietary Changes

Clean up your diet, less processed food, less sugar.

Avoid hydrogenated oils and trans fats which decrease motility.

Eat more fresh fruit, particularly dark berries and citrus fruits which are loaded with antioxidants to support healthy sperm.

Don't keep your mobile phone in your front pocket, or sit for hours with your laptop or tablet on you lap to protect the area from harmful radiation and wifi.

Cut alcohol intake down or out. A binge night can have a really negative impact on sperm for the next 2-3 months.

A preconception supplement for men can help ensure you have all the best vitamins and minerals to build healthy sperm. For the older man, it may also be good to take ubiquinol.

Stress hormones play havoc with fertility hormones, so make sure you take time to relax and unwind. Acupuncture can also really help to lower your stress hormones.

Switch to decaf or switch to herbal teas - caffeine can have a negative impact on sperm if you drink more than 2 cups a day.

Switch to loose fitting boxer shorts to help everything to stay cool - overheating is harmful to sperm development so no long soaks in a hot bath.

Include nuts in your diet. Nuts are particularly rich in sperm-supporting micronutrients; walnuts, almonds and brazils.

A single brazil nut contains your daily Selenium requirement!

Increase your vegetable intake, particularly spinach, kale, broccoli, avocado and sweet potato. Locally grown and seasonal veg is best.

Acupuncture has been shown in trials to have a really positive effect on sperm morphology and motility - and before you ask, the needles go anywhere near the crown jewels!

Sprinkle over porridge, salads, scrambled eggs and even curries to give yourself a super-sperm boost. Flaxseeds and sesame seeds are great choices.
